Short Play For An Empty Theatre, Gradually Filling

Two men staring at a black, circular hole hovering at waist height in the middle of the stage. It appears to be a rend in the fabric of space.

Mulrooney: How on earth did that get there?

Harper: Oh, don't you know?

Mulrooney: Know what?

Harper: Haven't you heard?

Mulrooney: Heard what?

Harper: So many people are ignorant these days.

Mulrooney: Look, are you going to tell me or do I have to . . . ?

Harper leaps through the hole and disappears.

Mulrooney: What the . . . ?

Mulligan enters from the wings.

Mulligan: How on earth did that get there?

Mulrooney: Oh, don't you know?

Mulligan looks at him, then he too leaps through the hole and disappears.

Mulrooney: Gracious!

Without hesitation, Mulrooney leaps through the hole. Moments later, all three men appear in the auditorium. They sit down in the front row. A line of men and women enter from the wings, walk towards the hole, and, one by one, leap through it. They too then appear in the auditorium and sit down. This continues until the theatre is full. The hole closes.

Logo for Silenced Press

Silenced Press requested the use of a visual piece of mine for their logo. I had to tweak it a bit but was more than happy to oblige .

The original can be found here. Good luck to the press with all their publishing endeavours! Looks like a nice one!
